In 1927, in a garage in Monroe, Michigan, cousins Edwin J. Shoemaker and Edward M. Knabusch designed the reclining wood-slat chair. This chair launched the world-renowned La-Z-Boy brand and a new category in furniture, the iconic recliner. La-Z-Boy is now one of the world's leading residential furniture producers, marketing furniture for every room of the home. The corporation's branded distribution network is dedicated to selling La-Z-Boy products and brands, and includes a number of independent Comfort Studio locations.
